Arrangement Policy

Our concerts for 2026 are 90s and Anniversary themed.
First draft of 90s parts are due for submission by
23rd of April.

 

We love receiving brilliant new arrangements from both within the orchestra and externally.

To make the process simpler and more doable for everyone, please follow the

five simple steps when writing an arrangement for LVGO.

Please note that the LVGO is a volunteer-led organisation, and we can rarely pay to 

commission arrangements. 

 STEP 1:

 

As soon as an arranger intends to arrange a piece (i.e. before a note has been written,

and it is just a spark in the composer’s mind), they must fill out the form below.

 

 STEP 2:

 

The specifications will be reviewed by the MD and in 99% of cases will be approved (it

would have to be something very silly to be denied, e.g. COD medley scored for bagpipes,

lasting four hours). The MD will then confirm:

● Which concert this arrangement will be placed into.

● The date of the first rehearsal for that term.

 STEP 3:

 

The arranger begins to write the piece, keeping the MD in the loop with any key details that

have changed (especially instrumentation and duration). Drafts of the piece should be sent

to the MD if possible.

 STEP 4:

 

The finished piece and an edited set of parts must be sent to the MD                                        

and the LVGO team at least THREE weeks before the

first rehearsal, giving the music team an MD time to review parts and suggest any

necessary changes.

 STEP 5:

 

The MD and music team must approve and confirm the piece, and parts, 48 hours before

the first rehearsal of the term, giving players time to print out parts.

 Failure to follow these steps could result in your arrangement being postponed or not

approved.
